The team headed up to sunny Shropshire on Friday for the second round of the Pearce Cycles summer series. After speaking with Lindsey Pearce the team truck took pride of place in the pit area, directly opposite the finish line.
The team line up was a little short this weekend with Phil staying at home with a dislocated collarbone and Josh and Manon revising for exams, however we managed to fill the team area with some extra special riders.
The legendary Graphics King Matt K jumped on a Myst for the weekend along with his father and accomplished truck driver Paul. Both had good weekend, but realised pushing the mouse around doesn’t count towards race training!
The Saracen presence was brilliant with the Madison Saracen team, Team Abarth MTB (Saracen supported) and a number of privateers all rocking the Myst bikes and frames it was a great site to see.
Race Day came round with lots of rain on Saturday night, leaving the track slick and muddy!
Will was first up, a good first run placed him into 5th position and after second runs and the mix and sunny spells and rain Will finished in a strong 7th place.
Harry came along for the fun and chose to race and ride for the first time on his DH bike since breaking his wrist 5 weeks ago. He had a brilliant weekend and showed just how quick he can be with a relaxed attitude and chilled approach. Harry finished the day in 9th place only 5 seconds back from the win!
Jack continued his recent form and was firing on all cylinders this weekend. With a good practice day and a big crash in his first race run Jack still posted the 10th fastest time of the day. Second runs came round with the sky dark and heavy. Jack chose to run cut down wet scream tyres and went for the win. Around 15 minutes before his the run the heavens opened and the track went from super fast to super wet!
Jack kept the throttle open the whole way down and posted the fastest bottom section of the weekend and finished in a frustrating 4th place. Only 0.11 off 3rd place and 2 seconds off the win! A brilliant ride for Jack in such hard conditions.
Ollie Burton Took the Elite win for Team Abarth MTB onboard the Saracen Myst Bike. (Well done Ollie!)
After all the fun had finished we gave the Pearce’s, Saracen T-shirts for all the podiums positions as a thank you for the brilliant pit position. Meaning every rider walked home with a Saracen T-shirt and a shinny trophy.
The last task for the team was to pack up and get out of the field! The race truck doesn’t really do mud very well and with some help from Dave Pearce and his brilliant Old tractor we slid our way out of the field and onto the road for the journey home.
Here is a pic’s just how tight things can be getting into the events!
Cheers
Andy
