It seems like just a week or two ago we were on the hillside at Fort William watching the world's best maneuver their way through the rocks.... wait, we were and Danny Hart took the win by nearly six seconds - great preparation for the World Cup!
Thunderstorms were threatening all weekend but the track at the Nevis Range basked in hot and sunny conditions making it one of the quickest and driest editions in recent times. Times at the top were tight and Danny Hart went into race day as a favourite having gone second fastest in quali the day before.
Alex Marin was loving the dusty conditions and was looking super stylish, his finals time was good enough for 28th and just a couple of seconds off from breaking the top-20. All eyes were on Matt Walker though, unable to race at Losinj and Fort William being one of his favourite tracks meant he was hungry for a result. He set a blistering time and took seventh place - not bad for his first ever Elite World Cup finals run! Danny Hart finished off the weekend with sixth place and grabbed valuable points in the world cup standings to move him up to seventh overall.
No rest for the wicked, the team moves onto Leogang for round 3 of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
