Shimano's new Deore drivetrain gives wide-range 11–51 gearing, with an upgraded SLX rear mech. Stopping duties are handled by the ever-capable two-pot Deore brakes, matched to 203mm rotors for added bite.

The DT Swiss E532 rims are enduro-ready, with a 30mm internal width providing plenty for the 2.4 Maxxis Minion DHRII tyres to fill out onto. Both are tubeless-ready — just add tape, valves and sealant.

A RaceFace 35mm finishing kit and dropper post from KS complete a spec sheet that has no weakness — and that's without mentioning the small details.

There's internal routing for everything — including a dropper post, superboost spacing for additional clearance, and big bearings which last longer and are commonly available should you need to refresh them.

Just don't try and stick a 29er fork up front. You’ll set off our inbuilt safety device that’ll alert everyone on PinkBike to the crimes you’re committing.
