Size Guide

What size Saracen bike should I choose? It’s probably one of the first questions you’ll need to answer before buying your new bike – here we are going to provide all of the answers.

Most Saracen bikes come in sizes small, medium, large and extra large. Typically, the taller you are, the bigger the size you choose. Every bike page on our website has a sizing chart to try and help you to pick the perfect bike.

This sizing applies to our Mantra, Zenith, Ariel 30/60/80, Myst AL and Ariel E-Bike ranges.

On our Ariel 30 and 60 models, we specify a full 29er setup on the size large and extra large models. The small and medium models use the mullet setup, with a 29er wheel up front and a smaller 27.5-inch wheel at the rear.

However, every Ariel 30 and 60 comes with a pair of links allowing you to switch rear wheel size if you want to. All you’ll need to do is install the link and buy a new rear wheel and tyre.

Our Myst range uses a completely different sizing approach called Factory Rider Fit.

This has been developed in conjunction with the Madison Saracen Factory Racing Team to provide the fastest bike on the hill.

Our 29er Mysts are offered only in a size large. We have found that this bike is only chosen for very fast, open tracks – or that the tallest riders will go for a 29er downhill bike. That’s because all of our team our now on mullet bikes.

Our mullet Mysts – which feature a 29er wheel up front and a 27.5-inch wheel at the rear – are now the go-to choice for most downhill racers. It’s what Matt Walker won the world cup title on, so it's probably fast enough for you.

The mullet Mysts come in medium and large sizes. Typically riders over 175cm choose the large, however there are a huge amount of factors when it comes to deciding which size to pick – including handling characteristics, the type of tracks you’re going to ride and your individual riding style.

If you want to test ride a Myst, the best place to do it is at the Antur Stiniog bike park. They have a fleet of demo bikes that you can hire for the day and test to the limit, before making your final decision.

Our Amplitude bikes only come in sizes medium and large. These are dirt jump specific bikes and as such are built – or should we say overbuilt – for the purpose. You won’t want to be riding anything other than sweetly sculpted trails on these.

Our medium size is best suited for riders up to around 172cm, while our large provides a bit more room to move around the bike. Of course, you may just prefer the stability of the larger size, which is another way to look at it.
