The New Ariel 80 Pro - Colour TBC

The Saracen Ariel 80 Pro returns with a fresh new look, Created in collaboration with one of the UK's most recognizable faces Jono Jones.

Known for riding hard, pushing limits and making every lap count, Jono embodies everything the Ariel 80 Pro was built for. So when it came to creating a new limited-edition colourway, there was no better rider to put their stamp on one of Saracen's most capable gravity-focused mountain bikes

Fun first and 27.5 for life, our take on a park bike is designed to thrive at every UK centre and even the Alps.

This thing loves to pop off lips, swing sideward and flick through trees. The bigger the grin on your face, the harder the Ariel 80 is going to work to keep it there.

Our all-new, custom-butted and hydroformed 6013 aluminium frame has been put to the test by bottom-out king Matt Walker and survived to make it into production.

Every millimetre of the 180mm of travel is designed to work hard, whether that's taking out rock chatter and braking bumps, sending the jump line, or holding on for traction in loose turns.

The 80 Pro gets the perfect spec sheet for hard charging out on the trails. A Fox DHX2 Performance shock is matched to the Fox 38 Performance Elite fork, providing every adjustment you need and more.

Shimano SLX provides shifting, with an XT rear mech covering the 11–45t wide-range cassette. Four-pot Deore brakes bring extra stopping power to the party.

The DT Swiss E532 rims are enduro-ready, with a 30mm internal width providing plenty for the 2.4 Maxxis Minion DHRII tyres to fill out onto. Both are tubeless-ready — just add tape, valves, and sealant.

A RaceFace 35mm finishing kit and dropper post from KS complete a spec sheet that has no weakness — and that's without mentioning the small details.

There's internal routing for everything — including a dropper post, superboost spacing for additional clearance, and big bearings which last longer and are commonly available should you need to refresh them.

Just don't try and stick a 29er fork up front. You’ll set off our inbuilt safety device that’ll alert everyone on PinkBike to the crimes you’re committing.

Please note — the Saracen Ariel does not come supplied with pedals. Add some from our gear store!

  • FAQ
    • Q: Is the Ariel 80 good for beginners?
A: The Ariel 80 is not typically recommended for beginners as it is designed for more aggressive riding in bike parks and technical downhill terrain. It rewards confident riders who already have some experience with trail or full suspension mountain bikes. Beginners are usually better starting on a hardtail or entry-level trail MTB before progressing to a park-focused bike.

Q: What type of riding is the Ariel 80 best for?
A: The Ariel 80 is designed for bike park riding, jump lines, steep descents, and technical gravity-focused terrain. It performs best in environments where descending performance, stability, and control over rough features are more important than climbing or long-distance efficiency. It is not intended for general trail riding or cross-country use.

Q: How does it compare to a hardtail MTB?
A: Compared to a hardtail MTB, the Ariel 80 is far more capable on steep, rough, and feature-heavy terrain thanks to its full suspension design and geometry tuned for descending. Hardtails are lighter and more efficient for pedalling and climbing, but they are less suited to bike park features and high-impact riding. The Ariel 80 is built for control and confidence on descents rather than efficiency.

Q: Can the Ariel 80 climb well?
A: The Ariel 80 can climb short sections when needed, but it is not designed for efficient climbing. Its geometry and suspension are optimised for descending and bike park riding, where uplift or shuttle access is typically used. A hardtail or trail-focused MTB is significantly more efficient for climbing terrain.

Q: Do I need a full suspension MTB?
A: You need a full suspension MTB if you regularly ride rough, technical terrain where comfort, grip, and control are important. If your rides include rocky trails, steep descents, or long off-road routes, full suspension will significantly improve performance. However, it is not essential for smoother trails or light off-road riding.

      Q: What’s the difference between Ariel 30 / 60 / 80?
A: The Ariel 30, 60, and 80 differ mainly in suspension travel and intended use: the 30 is for general trail riding, the 60 is more capable on aggressive trail and enduro terrain, and the 80 is built for bike park and gravity-focused riding.
