What a week for Becci Skelton.
Taking on the huge challenge of Trans Caledonia, Becci covered more than 250km, climbed 8,500m and descended over 10,000m across an incredible week of riding in Scotland.
And the results speak for themselves.
Becci took the Women’s 40+ victory and the overall women’s win, setting the fastest time on an incredible 38 out of 39 stages. She even finished 23rd overall amongst the men — all while dealing with a dislocated finger along the way.
Built for big days
For the event, Becci was riding her custom-built Saracen Ariel 60, built around the Ariel 60 X frameset.
With 160mm of rear travel and a platform designed for everything from big wilderness rides to hard enduro racing, the Ariel 60 was right at home across the long climbs, technical trails and demanding descents of Trans Caledonia.
The frameset combines a Series 3 custom-butted 6013 aluminium frame with a Fox Float X2 Factory rear shock, while an adjustable linkage allows the bike to be configured around either a mullet or full 29-inch setup.

“TransCaledonia was an absolutely brilliant race and one of the most enjoyable events I’ve done. The variety of tracks was amazing, from technical singletrack and natural trails to the long, fast slab sections like Heartbreak Ridge and Pitfichie, which were definitely some of my favourite parts of the week. Add in the incredible Scottish scenery and the fantastic hospitality, and it was a pretty special experience.
My Saracen Ariel 60 performed brilliantly throughout the whole race, giving me the confidence to push hard and allowing me to hold a consistent lead. I managed to take the women’s overall win by 20 minutes, despite dislocating a finger and giving my elbow a fairly good battering along the way! The bike never missed a beat and was the perfect partner for an unforgettable week.”
