The Madison Saracen Factory Race Team enjoyed podium and top-10 success at the opening round of the 2022 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill series in Lourdes, France.

Matt Walker got his 2022 season off to a solid start with a 10th place finish.

The 2020 downhill World Cup series champion delivered a strong race run, going into the hot seat with a 2:52.174.

Coupled with a 12th place qualifying run, Matt sits 10th in the overall standings with seven rounds remaining.

In the junior men's race Jordan Williams stepped onto the podium, taking third with a 2:56.028.

No stranger to the podium, Williams entered his second and final year of junior competition with a strong start and ambitions of the overall title.

In the elite women's race Veronika Widmann made her return to racing, having crashed out of the final round in 2021.

Her 2022 comeback started in Lourdes with a tenth-place finish, which was enough to grant her protected status for the next race and create a good platform for the coming season.

The 2022 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup resumes on May 21-22 in Fort William.
