Saracen and Firecrest MTB Launch Young Rider Development Programme

Saracen is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Firecrest MTB to launch the Firecrest MTB – Saracen Young Rider Development Programme (DeVo). This collaboration unites two powerhouses in British mountain biking with one clear goal: to support and develop the next generation of elite downhill racers.

Investing in the Future of UK Downhill

This season, the team comprises four standout young riders: Lucienne Turner (15), Ollie Laurie (16), Hugo Burleigh (13), and Henry Kirby (12). Backed by Saracen and our trusted partners—Madison Clothing, Lazer, and Shimano—these rising stars are set to make their mark on the UK downhill scene.

“We are genuinely thrilled and immensely grateful for the support from Saracen, Madison Clothing, Lazer, and Shimano,” said Ian Warby, founder of Firecrest MTB. “Their backing means a great deal to both myself and the young riders. With such fantastic partners behind us, we’re all excited for the season ahead and eager to see what our talented team can achieve.”

About Firecrest MTB – Saracen – DeVo

Led by renowned coach Ian Warby, Firecrest MTB’s DeVo Programme has become one of the UK’s leading talent development pipelines. Since its inception in the early 2000s, DeVo has launched the careers of some of Britain’s fastest junior racers.

After a short break from Aston Hill in 2007, Ian returned full-time in 2015 to relaunch DeVo and continue his mission of nurturing young mountain biking talent. Despite setbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic and the temporary closure of Aston Hill Bike Park, Ian adapted by relocating to Rushmere Country Park, where the program continues to thrive.

Now, with Saracen onboard, the programme’s athletes will be racing on Saracen Myst downhill bikes, with full race-day and technical support from Madison Clothing, Lazer, and Shimano.

“We’re really excited to partner with Firecrest MTB DeVo and help foster the next generation of riders,” said Kellie Parsons, Marketing Director at Madison. “Saracen has gone through a lot of change over the past 12 months, but our commitment to youth development remains unchanged. Ian’s work with Firecrest perfectly aligns with our brand values, and we’re thrilled to be part of this journey.”
