Tight and tricky racing in Lenzerheide at World Cup round 4

Tight times and challenging on track conditions in Lenzerheide kept the Madison Saracen Factory Racing Team on their toes at round four of the 2021 UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup.

In the elite men’s race Matt Walker missed out on a top-10 result by the smallest of margins. A solid run was enough to land the British champion in the hot-seat for the first time in 2021 and one week after seventh at the world championships it seemed he had lost none of his speed.

As the race played out however, Matt was bumped down the order and would finish the afternoon in 12th – astonishingly just 0.4-seconds down on seventh place.

The result keeps Matt 13th in the overall series standings, with a top-10 finish still very much in sight.

In the junior men’s race Jordan Williams recovered from a crash to finish fourth place – a result that keeps him second in the series standings.

Veronika Widmann took 10th place in the women’s elite race and matches that positon in the overall series.

The world cup series concludes with a double header in Snowshoe, USA on September 15 and 18 where the final standings will be decided.
