Walker goes 12th in Leogang World Cup

Matt Walker took 12th in Leogang, Austria as the Madison Saracen Factory Race Team lined up at the second round of the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.

Times were incredibly tight on the fast track and in the finals Matt was just 0.9-seconds away from stepping onto the podium.

After an unfortunate opening round, where Walker was counted out of the final in Lenzerheide due to a puncture in the semis, this was an instant chance to bounce back.

Walker started about that task in qualifying, where he posted the second-fastest time of the session. He backed that up with a 10th position in the semi-finals, comfortably making the final and taking good points for the overall in the process.

The solid weekend moves Walker from 50th, up to 20th in the series standings.

Teammate Greg Williamson also delivered a better performance in Leogang. On the road to recovery from his illness, he made it through qualifying in 49th position. In the semi-finals he found himself just the wrong side of the split, in 35th place.

The series continues in Val di Sole, Italy on July 1 and you can watch all the action live, exclusively on GCN+, Eurosport and Discovery+
